Brazil & Mexico: Report links Hyundai and Kia’s steel supply to companies with human rights and environmental violations

Pexels

A new report published by Mighty Earth, based on an investigation carried out by a coalition of organizations between 2018 and 2024, reveals that the steel used by Hyundai and Kia Motors comes from companies linked to human rights and environmental violations in Brazil and Mexico.

This is the case with Ternium and Vale, which have been named as responsible for “devastating environmental destruction, exploitation of workers and violations of community rights”.

Hyundai and Vale responded to Mighty Earth and the Mining Observatory (Observatório da Mineração).

We invited Ternium and Kia to respond to the allegations. Ternium's response is available. Kia has not responded.
