Hungary: CATL Debrecen battery plant faces fines for illegal discharge; further probe underway

The environmental protection authority has initiated proceedings against Chinese-owned CATL as the company illegally discharged green-colored liquid from a sewer line at the company’s battery plant in Debrecen.
[...] because of the incident the water authority withdrew a permit issued allowing the pre-treatment of industrial wastewater and obliged the company to clean the municipal wastewater network and the rainwater drainage.
The office noted that CATL ended the pollution within the set deadline, but due to the violations, the water and environmental authorities will impose fines.
