The head of PJSC “Poltava Mining and Processing Plant” (PGOK, Ferrexpo Poltava Mining), which is part of the Ferrexpo plc group and is linked to former MP Kostyantyn Zhevago, who is internationally wanted, will stand trial for evading more than UAH 1.7 billion in taxes, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

According to the investigation, the head of the plant organized a tax evasion scheme involving the undervaluation of iron ore products during their sale to affiliated foreign companies registered in European and Middle Eastern jurisdictions.

As a result of these unlawful actions between 2015 and 2017, the state budget allegedly lost more than UAH 1.7 billion in corporate profit tax.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings has been completed. The indictment against the head of the mining and processing plant has already been referred to court. He will be tried for intentional tax evasion on a particularly large scale and for entering knowingly false information into official documents.
