The East Yakutia Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has opened a criminal case following a rock collapse that killed a mine worker at the gold-antimony mine of the Sarylakh deposit (JSC Sarylakh-Surma, part of GPM) in the Oymyakon district, the agency reported.
Earlier, on June 12, 2025, a rock collapse occurred at the 286-meter level of the mine, trapping two workers. The body of one miner was recovered from the rubble, while the second man was hospitalized in the settlement of Ust-Nera; doctors assess his condition as satisfactory. A total of 25 people were in the mine at the time of the incident. The prosecutor’s office of the Oymyakon district is conducting a review of the incident.
