The Foschini Group's response to factory closures in Eswatini

TFG notes the broader industry pressures in Eswatini, including rising input costs such as electricity, water and labour, which are impacting manufacturers across the sector.

However, we would like to clarify that TFG has not materially reduced its sourcing from Eswatini. The value of supply sourced from the country has remained broadly stable year on year, reflecting only a marginal decrease of 2.7% which is consistent with the broader economic and consumer pressure being felt in South Africa.

We are aware of references to factory closures, including Golden Jubilee Textiles and Kasumi Apparels Textiles. To the best of our knowledge, both factories are currently operational. These factories are owned by a supplier to TFG, and we have increased our sourcing from this supplier by approximately 2.6% from FY25 to FY26.

TFG maintains a strong commitment to South African and regional sourcing, with approximately 81.6% of our private label apparel sourced from these markets.

In October 2025, TFG attended the opening of a new apparel manufacturing facility by Sigma Clothing in Eswatini, reflecting continued investment and confidence in the sector.

We continue to engage with suppliers to support responsible business practices and sustainable outcomes for workers.
