The Antamina Mining Company confirmed the death of a worker belonging to the security firm Liderman, following an accident that occurred on Tuesday, November 11, in the high‑Andean area where the company operates. The incident took place during a lightning storm that affected the area, according to the statement released by the company.
According to official information, the victim was identified as David Anaya López, who was carrying out duties on the upper part of a hill near the mining facilities when he was struck by lightning. Alongside him was his coworker Alfredo Espinoza Gutiérrez, who sustained injuries but received immediate medical attention and is reported to be out of danger.
In the statement, the mining company specified that representatives of the security firm were notified immediately, and they informed the families of both workers. “We promptly informed the representatives of the company, who in turn contacted the workers’ families to provide the necessary support during this difficult time, as well as the relevant authorities,” Antamina indicated…
